BetWWTS.com Announces Odds for the Thanksgiving Invitational Eating Contest26 November 2002NEW YORK – (Press Release) -- With seven of America's finest competitive eaters set to compete in the Thanksgiving Invitational, leading offshore gaming company BetWWTS.com has developed the official betting line for the event, including odds on who will be crowned the uncontested Master of the Thanksgiving Meal. Competitors in the Thanksgiving Invitational, an International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) event, have each won one of seven qualifying contests that made up the IFOCE's 2002 Harvest Series, a circuit of highly competitive events that took place in Anchorage, Key West, Boston, Reno, Buffalo and New York City. In the Thanksgiving Invitational, Harvest Series Champs will be presented with multiple servings of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Each plate will represent 1 1/2 pounds of food and include turkey, stuffing, green beans and cranberry sauce. The eater that consumes the most servings in 12 minutes will be crowned Master of the Thanksgiving Meal. A leading offshore gaming company since 1992, BetWWTS.com has created odds for each of the seven champion eaters to win the event. The Chili Champion, Rich LeFevre has emerged as a 5/6 favorite (i.e., win $5 for every $6 bet), followed by the Donut Champion Eric Booker at 1/1. Other competitive eating stars that will vie for the Thanksgiving Invitational title include Ed Jarvis (Cannoli Champ) 3/1; Dale Boone (Russian Dumpling Champ) 5/1; Charles Hardy (Cabbage Champ) 5/1; Joe Menchetti (Conch Fritter Champ) 12/1; and Crazy Legs Conti (Pancake Champ) 12/1. Customers may also wager on unique over/under lines on the pounds of food each of the competitors will eat in the contest. BetWWTS.com has also created matchups between some of the favorites in the contest as well as creating a betting line for how many competitors will consume over 7.5 pounds of food during the contest. "BetWWTS.com is pleased to be the official sports book of the inaugural Thanksgiving Invitational, an event that will expose the true excess of the holiday," said Buck Churchill, chief bet manager of BetWWTS.com. "As ordinary Americans prepare to gorge themselves on Thanksgiving, they can place a wager on which of these eating champions can devour a full Thanksgiving meal in record time." All current odds are subject to change. BetWWTS.com will accept wagers on the Thanksgiving Invitational until 10 a.m. EST on November 27, one hour before the official start of the competition. The competition will be held at Mickey Mantle's restaurant on Central Park South in New York City. A 12-minute event, the Thanksgiving Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. EST. |
