Betty Boop-themed Progressive System Goes Live in Atlantic City

17 May 2000

LAS VEGAS--(Press Release)--May 17, 2000--Alliance Gaming Corp. (Nasdaq:ALLY - news) today announced that its Bally Gaming and Systems business unit, a leader in slots, video machines and casino management software for the global gaming industry, has gone "live" with its new Betty Boop™ -themed wide-area progressive system at four Park Place Entertainment (PPE) properties in Atlantic City, N.J.

Bally Gaming and Systems becomes just the second company to have a wide-area system in the Atlantic City market and reaches another milestone in its effort to build on the lucrative recurring revenue segment of its gaming operations.

Beginning mid-day Friday, May 12, eighty-three machines in total were switched on at Bally's Park Place, Wild Wild West, Caesars Atlantic City and Atlantic City Hilton to begin a field trial as mandated by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. Promotion for the games included a visit to the casinos by the New York City Betty Boop Fan Club. The games enjoyed a strong level of play throughout the weekend.

Betty Boop's Big Hit, the latest in entertaining, high-jackpot games on Bally Gaming's Thrillions® wide-area progressive system, offers a $100,000 initial jackpot that increases in relationship to the amounts wagered. The game is designed to produce frequent jackpots that result in an immediate total jackpot payment to winners.

"We are very pleased to bring our Thrillions technology and the Betty Boop theme to the Atlantic City market," said Robert Miodunski, president and chief operating officer of Alliance Gaming. "With Betty Boop already a success in Nevada, Mississippi and various Native American casinos, Atlantic City represents the final piece to the successful rollout of our first wide-area progressive product. I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank everyone at Park Place Entertainment in the Atlantic City market for their invaluable assistance in bringing this product to market."
