Bettors Up: Bonds Performance No Longer Golden

20 December 2004

MONTREAL, Quebec -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Since the news leak to the San Francisco Chronicle about Barry Bond's unknowingly taking undetectable steroids on December 3, 2004, gamblers are no longer rallying behind the sports legend. Once considered baseball's best player, bettors are expecting Bonds to fall flat next season.

"Our in-house sports analysts believe that Bonds will fare well next season, hitting more than 42 homeruns. We opened the line over/under 42 ½, but had to drop it to 41 ½ based on wagering trends this morning," says Mike Foreman, BetUS.com spokesperson. "It appears that fans have lost faith in Bonds and are betting against him."

According to Foreman, the one-time gambling favorite is facing a lot of pressure and despite his talent, with or without the juice, gamblers are predicting Bonds to totter in the upcoming 2005 season.

"It appears that some of our customers believe Bonds has too much to deal with personally to focus on the game and with rumors circulating about perjury charges regarding his testimony last December, it's just too much - gamblers no longer want to back him," said Foreman.

The company is also offering wagers on whether Bonds will break the homerun record in 2005 or 2006, and it just posted a new betting proposition surrounding talk that Bonds may face perjury charges.
