Betfair Wager Referred to Casino and Gaming Authority

VICTORIA, Australia -- As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Racing Victoria stewards will refer one punter's bet of $30,000, laying unplaced favourite Vengo to lose at Sandown on Saturday, in what may become a forerunner of inquires to come to the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority on Monday.

"Vengo was ninth in the $50,000, Fashions On The Field Welter (1800m) after starting $2.35 favourite and rider Nicholas Ryan told stewards that the horse did not respond to his riding.

"The unidentified punter, who pocketed in excess of $20,000, matched the wagers of others that supported Vengo to win on UK betting exchange Betfair who is waiting to see if the Tasmanian government passes legislation to licence betting exchanges in that State..."
