Bet on Super Bowl Ads30 January 2006WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – (PRESS RELEASE)-- While the Super Bowl is the most watched broadcast each year because of the game, millions tune in just to view the commercials. The ads have become a cultural phenomenon serving as water cooler fodder the day after the game. With polls ranking the commercials now commonplace, leading online sportsbook PinnacleSports.com today entered the Super Bowl ad game by announcing odds on which commercial will win the USA Today's 18th Annual Ad Meter poll. The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com has calculated individual odds on eight companies that have bought airtime during this year's game. Attempting to capture the Ad Meter title for an eighth consecutive year, Anheuser-Busch is once again the odds-on favorite to win the viewer poll at 1/2 odds (i.e., win $1 for every $2 bet). Burger King, airing its first Super Bowl ad in a decade, is listed with the second best odds at 9/2 to be voted the most popular commercial. PinnacleSports.com lists longtime Super Bowl advertiser Pepsi at 8/1 to win the poll for the first time since 1998. "When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch," said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. "In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option." CareerBuilder.com, who'll "roll out the monkeys" for a second consecutive year, comes in at 10/1 to win USA Today's poll. The odds makers at PinnacleSports.com list Super Bowl veteran FedEx at 12/1, while Emerald Nuts (15/1), Subway (15/1) and Unilever (18/1) have been installed as long shots to win their first Ad Meter title. All other companies advertising during Super Bowl XL have been included in the field, which bettors can wager on at 6/1 odds.
