Bellagio Suspects to be Tried Together

25 October 2000

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Oct. 25,2000 -- District Judge Kathy Hardcastle Tuesday agreed that two men indicted separately in connection with the June robbery of the Bellagio hotel-casino should be tried together.

A tentative trial date for Jose Vigoa, 41, and Luis Suarez, 36, is expected to be set at a Nov. 1 hearing.

Vigoa, Suarez and the late Oscar Sanchez are suspected of robbing the Bellagio on June 3 while armed and wearing body armor.

Besides being indicted in that robbery, the three are also suspected in a string of armored car and other casino robberies and the deaths of two armored car guards in Henderson.

Sanchez, 23, who reportedly implicated Vigoa and Suarez in the additional robberies, died in the Clark County Detention Center Oct. 7. His death was ruled a suicide.
