Baptists Asks Churches to Oppose Oklahoma Lottery19 February 2003McALESTER, Oklahoma – As reported by the Associated Press: "Baptist leaders in southeastern Oklahoma are asking church members to oppose Gov. Brad Henry's lottery proposal. "A group representing nearly 8,000 Baptists is securing resolutions from church members to oppose the governor's lottery proposition and any other expansion of gambling. "…Henry is asking for a statewide vote to approve a lottery to raise up to $300 million per year for education in Oklahoma.
