B.C. Lottery Offers Woman Slot Jackpot Settlement

11 March 2001

PENTICTON, Canada – March 11, 2001 –As reported by the Canadian Press: "The B.C. Lottery Corp. has offered a settlement to a woman who thought she'd won $30,000 playing a slot machine at Penticton's Lake City Casino. The corporation had said it was no win but a computer glitch.

"Judy Koropatnicki of nearby Osoyoos said earlier this week she had dropped at least $30…into a machine last Thursday when three 10s came, up indicating a $20,000 win.

"She said a technician came to the machine and told her she still had credits on the machine so she should play them off.

"She said when she pressed the spin button, two 10s and a seven appeared in the windows, indicating a $10,000 win.

"The technician then told her it was not a jackpot.

"… The lottery corporation said Friday that a coin jammed the machine and Koropatnicki attempted to clear it by hitting the machine buttons.

"That accidentally set of a diagnostic mode that displays jackpot symbols, it said…"
