Aztar Announces Appoints Two New Directors19 November 2002PHOENIX, Arizona – (Press Release) -- Aztar Corporation (NYSE: AZR) today announced appointment to its board of directors of Frank J. Brady and John A. Spencer, both with extensive experience in sectors related to Aztar's business. Mr. Brady, 56 years of age, of Phoenix, is a Certified Public Accountant who retired in June 2002 after 32 years with Ernst & Young LLP in Cleveland and Phoenix, serving in the latter office as Audit Partner from 1982 until his retirement. His specializations include SEC accounting and reporting and audits of businesses in the real estate and hospitality sectors. He has been a member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy since 1987 and served as its president in 1997-98. He holds a BA degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Mr. Spencer, 54 years of age, of Phoenix, retired in 2001 from Del Webb Corporation as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He was with Del Webb for 23 years and was involved with its gaming operations in Nevada and New Jersey for his first 10 years with the company. Prior to joining Del Webb, he was a certified public accountant with the accounting firm of Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., the predecessor to KPMG. He holds a BS degree in finance from Florida State University and a MS degree in accounting from Arizona State University. The appointments bring the Aztar board to eight members, six of whom are outside directors. Aztar is a publicly traded company that operates Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ramada Express Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, Missouri, and Casino Aztar in Evansville, Indiana. |
