AWI Changes Name, Focuses on International Lottery Industry4 September 2002CLIFTON, New Jersey --(Press Release)-- Automated Wagering International, Inc. (AWI), an affiliate of International Game Technology, Inc., and a leader in providing innovative lottery system solutions to the worldwide lottery industry, announced today that AWI has changed its name to IGT Online Entertainment Systems, Inc. ("IGT Systems"). This name change marks the restructuring and refocusing of IGT Systems' commitment to innovative gaming solutions for the worldwide lottery industry. All indicators show that the lottery industry is in need of new game content. Experts following the industry agree that the online games of today have grown stale. This announcement evidences IGT Online Entertainment Systems' commitment to provide innovative and exciting new options for online lottery games. "This is an enormous step for our company and the lottery industry in general," explained Christer Roman, President of the Lottery Division of IGT. "Through the years, AWI has prided itself as being a recognized technology leader in the online lottery industry. This name change now demonstrates our rededication to enhancing our leadership position by focusing on game design and content. IGT maintains numerous game design centers here in the United States and overseas." VLC and United Tote, sister companies to IGT Online Entertainment Systems, were also acquired as a result of the IGT/Anchor Gaming merger which closed in December 2001. VLC and United Tote will keep their names, as both have strong brand recognition within their markets. All three companies will remain a part of IGT's Lottery Division, headed by Christer Roman. |
