Autotote Receives Additional Terminal Order for Betting Network in Italy27 October 1999Autotote Corp. announced Oct. 22 that it has received a $7.5 million add-on order for the Max3000, Max3000L and self-service Stan terminals for the start-up of a new sports betting network in Italy called Totoscemese. Autotote's Italian distributor, Elettronica Ingegneria Sistemi S.p.A., will take delivery of all the terminals over the next three months. This latest order is in addition to one announced earlier in the year bringing the combined sales to 3,350 terminals worth $11.5 million. Lorne Weil, chief executive, said in a statement, "We already have over 2,500 Max3000s operating as the backbone of the OTB business in Italy and a 90 percent market share of the wagering equipment at Italy's racetracks. Now that the Italian government is issuing licenses to 1,000 independent betting shops that will handle wagers on many different sporting events such as soccer, basketball and auto racing, Autotote has become a primary beneficiary.'' Autotote (Amex: TTE) provides computerized wagering equipment, computer software, facilities management and satellite broadcast services for on-track, off-track and inter-track wagering, lotteries and legalized sports betting facilities. The company's Web site is www.autotote.com. |
