NEW YORK – (Press Release) -- Jan. 24, 2001 -- Autotote Corporation (Amex: TTE) today announced that it has signed a 10-year contract to provide totalisator equipment and services to Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona.

The value of the contract, which is a major operational upgrade for Turf Paradise, will exceed $5 million over its term. The new system will begin operations on June 1, 2001 handling the wagers from the 39 Arizona OTBs, and will begin service starting in September at the Turf Paradise Racetrack when it reopens for live racing.

The components of the system include 177 Probe teller operated terminals, 105 MAX 3000 teller operated terminals, 114 STAN self-service terminals, 10 wireless personal account wagering terminals, 10 wireless color Tiny TIM account wagering terminals and 3 Walkabout terminals, all driven by Autotote's new ECLIPSE central system.

Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO of Autotote, said, ``Turf Paradise is a premier facility located in the high growth Phoenix area. Since 1998, Turf Paradise's in-state handle has grown 36% and its out-of-state handle by 52%. Since September, on-track handle has increased over 30%. These levels of growth are unparalleled in the industry and we intend to augment this growth with the ease and efficiency provided by the advanced technology of our equipment.''

Randy Fozzard, General Manager of Turf Paradise, said, ``Upgrading our pari-mutuel betting capacity with Autotote equipment is part of an overall remodeling of both our on-track and off-track operations. The Autotote technology is truly state-of-the-art, and will allow us to continue operating a world-class track and top notch OTB facilities.''
