Author Leads Connecticut's Anti-Casino Group24 October 2002CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Connecticut Day: "Author Jeff Benedict will serve as president of a nonprofit coalition of businesses, churches, civic groups and community members that oppose casino expansion in Connecticut. "The Connecticut Alliance Against Casino Expansion will announce its formation and outline its mission statement and objectives at a press conference today at the state Capitol. "…Benedict, an author and aspiring politician from East Lyme, has become a vocal opponent of casino gambling in Connecticut since the publication of his book, `Without Reservation.' Benedict said the group's status will enable it to lobby and educate the public, and that its formation could be one of the most influential and important developments in the state's 15-year history of casino and tribal recognition matters…" |
