Australia's Racing Industry Growing27 February 2003AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "A report on the status of Thoroughbred racing in Australia shows a growing industry that has pumped billions of dollars into the nation's economy. "Racing contributed $4.66-billion (US$2.82 billion) to the Australian economy in 2001, according to the study, conducted by the Australian Racing Board. "…Approximately 240,000 Australians are employed in the Thoroughbred industry, and at least 1.7-million attend races in the nation at least once a year, according to Asia Pulse analysts…" |
