Australian Telecommunication Company Targets Bettors

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australian: "Hutchison Telecommunications may tempt consumers with mobile betting and pornography services when it launches its $3 billion third generation mobile data network early next year.

"Both products are being actively explored by Hutchison at a global and local level, as it searches for a business model that will attract customers in an already crowded mobile market.

"3G offers users the promise of full-colour handset with data speeds up to 40-times faster than a dial up services – able to handle streaming video and download high-resolution images.

"…Australia is a nation of gamblers which each year spends tens of billions every year at the track, and at gaming tables and machines.

"While telephone betting has long been a feature of the Australian gambling environment, Mr Wright said 3G could present punters with a lot more information.
