Australian State Releases Gambling Reform Package26 July 2001NEW SOUTH WALES, Australia – July 26, 2001 –As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "The New South Wales' Government has released its package on gambling reform, in response to community concerns. "…The key reforms include a cap of 104,000 on the total number of machines in NSW, with club venues allowed a maximum of 450 and hotels 30. "Clubs with more than 450 have to reduce numbers by 10 per cent over five years, but both clubs and hotels can trade permits with each other. "There is also going to be a ban on 24 hour gambling, with gaming operations to be shut down for six hours each day, but the ban will not apply to the Star City Casino…" |
