Australian Poker Machine Revenue Cap Proposed

AUSTRALIA – Oct. 4, 2001 –As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "Key Independents are proposing to cap Australian Capital Territory Government revenue from poker machines and distribute any surplus to public services.

"…[Dave Rugendyke, a Key Independent representative] says the Independents are proposing a range of restrictions on current gambling practices.

"…`Such initiatives as removing cash dispensing machines from clubs, removing note acceptors from gaming machines and also blocking the expansion of pokies to the casino and other licensed premises," he said."
