Australian Gambling Reforms To Lower Government Profits10 December 2001AUSTRALIA – Dec. 10, 2001 –As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "The Member for Murray-Darling, Peter Black, says new gambling reforms being considered by the State Government will lower the amount of revenue it gets from gaming machines. "He says the reforms address problem gambling by reducing the amount of machines available in pubs and progressively shortening legal playing hours. "…He says the Government will not miss a lot of the revenue it takes from gaming machines because a lot of the money is spent on community groups which help problem gamblers…" |
