"…International visitor numbers to Cairns, in northern Queensland, dropped as a result of the Iraq war and severe acute respiratory syndrome, putting pressure on the revenue from table games, which are particularly popular with high rollers from Asia. "But a strong domestic market, due in part to local promotions and special events, helped the casino increase visitor numbers by 4 per cent.
