Australian Casino Robber in Court15 April 2003AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australian Associated Press: "The armed robber who held up Crown Casino's high roller room appeared "composed and remarkably calm" as he stuffed his jacket with $100 bills, the Victorian County Court heard today. "Thomas Mangos, 49, today pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery before Judge Lance Pilgrim. "At the pre-sentencing hearing, prosecutor Jack Vandersteen said [Thomas] Mangos had first greeted the woman cashier at the Mahogany Room with a friendly `hi' before producing a handgun and ordering her to `give us your hundreds'. "Mangos then stuffed $136,600 into the front of his jacket and walked from the casino to a taxi. "…After a month-long nation-wide hunt he was arrested in the western Victorian town of Horsham…" |
