Australian Casino Crime Levels Revealed

AUSTRALIA-- Dec. 18, 2000 – As reported by the Australian Herald Sun: "Crime levels at Crown casino -- including five bomb threats - have been made public for the first time.

"…The reports identify five bomb threats against Crown in 16 months, presumably by disgruntled gamblers.

"They show police investigated cases of rape, sexual assault, handgun and regulated weapon offences, possession of counterfeit money, blackmail, an unattended child, 256 charges of theft and 40 of obtaining property by deception.

"Police also laid charges over two armed robberies, 32 assaults, eight drug offences, one case of false accounting and four threats to kill.

"…The information they released shows they did not lay any charges for illegal gaming, prostitution, pornography or crimes against the racing industry at the Crown complex during the period."
