Australian Casino Codes Approved

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (South Australian) Advertiser: "Adelaide Casino will be prohibited from promoting gambling to minors or as a means to escape debt.

"Codes of practice introduced by Gambling Minister John Hill yesterday also make the casino responsible for preventing a drunk person from continuing to gamble.

"It is the first of four codes approved by the Independent Gambling Authority.

"The others – for wagering and lotteries, and gaming in hotels and clubs – will be completed by the end of the year.

"Under the codes, all gambling advertising will carry mandatory warnings similar to that on cigarette packets.

"…The codes also require the Adelaide Casino to:

"Provide responsible gambling materials in five languages other than English.

"…Train staff to identify problem gamblers.

"Take steps to prevent parents from leaving children unattended, particularly in cars.

"Sky City Adelaide welcomed the codes saying they would have positive outcomes for the industry and the community…"
