Australia Seeks Views on Online Gambling26 February 2003AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Financial Review: "The federal government yesterday released a background paper and called for submissions for the review of its controversial ban on online gambling. "…Under the act, online sports and race wagering is allowed but interactive casinos are banned from offering their services to Australians. "…Industry antipathy towards the legislation remains high and operators are expected to push for a number of concessions. "…Sports and race wagering operators are most likely to secure an easing of restrictions with the ban on run betting a prime target, while interactive casinos are not expected to secure many concessions or receive much assistance from wagering lobbyists." |
