Australia: Gambling Help Falling Behind20 August 2003AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Fairfax News: ``A gambling support service is struggling to meet demand from problem gamblers. ``Gamblers Help Southern, which covers nine regions including Greater Dandenong and Casey, has a waiting list of gamblers seeking counselling and financial help. ``Some people, it claims, are having to wait months for help. ``…Manager Chris Freetchy said while about 25 people were now on the waiting list, it had been up to 50. ``Mr Freetchy said he contacted the State Government, which funds the service, regularly about the problem…" |
