Aussie Gaming Minister Denies Prior Knowledge of Pokie Payment7 July 2002AUSTRALIA -- As reported by ABC News Online: ``Victoria's Gaming Minister has rejected claims he knew about a $400,000 payment from a poker machine manufacturer to the state's gambling regulator, a month before the matter became public. ``The State Opposition has called for the resignation of John Pandazopoulos over the issue, but he maintains he has done nothing wrong. ``The ABC's Stateline program revealed yesterday that Mr Pandazopoulos's office was made aware of the payment to the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority by poker machine manufacturer IGT in early September last year. ``...The government intends to introduce new legislation to ban such payments to the Office of Gambling Regulation..." |
