Aussie Employee Stole $68,000 Because of Gambling Problem9 April 2003AUSTRALIA -- As reported by ABC Canberra: ``The ACT Supreme Court has heard a man who stole more than $68,000 from his employer had a gambling problem at the time. ``Vincenzo Francesco Panetta, 26, from Sydney was employed by a Canberra real estate agent as a property manager. He was responsible for collecting bond and rent payments. ``Between March 2001 and February 2002, Panetta failed to lodge many of the payments and falsified accounts and receipts to cover up the theft. ``...He was sentenced to 5 and a half years in jail with a non-parole period of 18 months..." |
