Atlantic City Mayor James Whelan to Address Attendees at Southern Gaming Summit

19 April 2000

BILOXI, Miss., April 19 (Press Release) - Atlantic City Mayor James Whelan will address attendees of the Southern Gaming Summit, May 10 & 11, 2000 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi.

As mayor of the city that welcomed casino gaming more than 20 years ago, Whelan will bring with him experiences that can be related to the Gulf Coast. Also delivering keynote speeches at the Southern Gaming Summit are MGM Grand President and CFO James Murren and American Gaming Association President Frank Fahrenkopf.

The seventh annual Southern Gaming Summit is the largest gaming conference and trade show held outside Las Vegas, and is produced by the Gulf Coast Gaming Association and Casino Journal Publishing Group. The conference includes more than 250 exhibitors and last year hosted 5,000 attendees.

While no jurisdiction can be compared to Las Vegas, the Gulf Coast has Atlantic City to recognize how to get the most out of the gaming experience. Whelan will explain the similarities between Atlantic City and the Gulf Coast and recommend how to proceed. The appearance of Whelan, Murren and Fahrenkopf continues the great tradition of the Southern Gaming Summit, which has featured important industry executives, public officials and prominent politicians.

In addition, the Summit features expert speakers at its wide variety of seminars, which focus on casino operations, gaming law and finance. This year, the Southern Gaming Summit will reward all attendees who complete a series of six seminars sponsored by the Casino Management Association with a "Southern Gaming Summit Gaming Professional" certificate.

Special events include the spectacular "Taste of the Gulf Coast Casinos" keynote dinner that features gourmet food prepared by all of the top chefs of the casino members of the GCGA. A Welcome Reception is scheduled for the evening of May 9 at the Isle of Capri in Biloxi.

The Gulf Coast Gaming Association is an organization consisting of the 11 casino properties on the Gulf Coast, and represents the interests of the region's casino industry. The group promotes the common businesses and general welfare of Mississippi's gaming industry, improves the industry's service to the public, cooperates with government officials in advancing the public interest, and improves conditions throughout within the industry.

The GCGA's mission is accomplished through education, representation, legislative support and interaction, statistical data collection, and the support and promotion of the tourism industry in general. The group works in cooperation with the American Gaming Association in Washington and other gaming associations in Mississippi and throughout the United States.

Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CJPG) publishes Casino Journal, the company's flagship magazine, and the most widely read trade publication serving the gaming industry; the National Gaming Summary, an extensive weekly newsletter that provides up-to-the-minute gaming news; the Gaming Industry Weekly and Daily Reports and the Daily Lodging Report North America and Daily Lodging Report-Asia Pacific targeting gaming and lodging executives and investors.

For the gaming consumer, CJPG publishes Casino Player and Strictly Slots, the nation's largest circulation consumer gaming publications, and the Atlantic City Insider, which targets the frequent Atlantic City gambler. In addition to the Southern Gaming Summit, the company also produces the industry's most respected conference, American Gaming Summit (January 12 & 13,2001, in Las Vegas) in conjunction with Bear Stearns & Co. and the Nevada law firm of Lionel Sawyer & Collins.
