Born David Blatt in New York, Jay Black has built a legacy over the last four decades as one of the greatest vocalists in music history. Known best as the lead singer of his band Jay and the Americans, Black soared legendary heights of fame in the 1960's producing 21 chart singles. His hits include "Cara Mia," "Come a Little Bit Closer," "Walkin' in the Rain" and "This Magic Moment." Jay and his band also opened for the Rolling Stones among other superstars. Neil Diamond's first hit song was "Sunday and Me", which was performed by Jay and the Americans. The multi-talented Black has been quoted as saying "I'm an entertainer who happens to sing." And in the 1970's, Black landed a role in a television movie starring Frank Sinatra called "Contract on Cherry Street." Black tours frequently, consistently selling out venues. He is known affectionately as "The King of Westbury" because of his unmatched amount of sell-out concerts at the Westbury Music Fair in New York.
