Atlantic City Execs Find Bright Spot in Storm

ATLANTIC CITY, Press Release – (Press Release) -- Casino executives actually found a measure of relief from last weekend's snowstorm - relief that it didn't begin 48 hours earlier.

"The Presidents Day weekend, typically one of industry's highest-grossing periods, lived up to expectations on Friday and Saturday, the top executives of Resorts and Showboat said.

""We were very encouraged, then the bottom falls out on Sunday and the impact of the storm carries on for two or three days," said Showboat General Manger Tom O'Donnell said.

"…Showboat's business declined about 50 percent from Sunday through Tuesday, he said.

"At Resorts, many of the casino's typical Saturday-night high rollers were trapped inside the casino hotel when the storm began early Sunday.

" `Fortunately, if you're going to have a snowstorm, Sunday morning is a good time to have it,' President Audrey Oswell said…"
