Atlantic City Casinos Post Revenue Gain for March

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "The casino industry reported a 7.5 percent gain in gross gambling revenue last month.

"The city's dozen casinos reported gross gambling revenue of $389 million in March, $27.1 million more than the same month last year, according to unofficial figures obtained by The Press of Atlantic City.

"…The industry will have posted its best March ever, its fifth straight month of revenue growth and its second-best monthly percentage gain in the last two years.

"The industry finished the first quarter with $1.1 billion in revenue, 5 percent better than last year.

"…Analysts and casino executives said better weather, an easy comparison to last year's results and an extra Sunday (Easter) compared to last year drove the March results.

"Slot-machine revenue, which accounts for near three-fourths of the industry's business, increased 9 percent, to $288.5 million.

"Table-games revenue increased 3.3 percent, to $99.4 million, on less money wagered but better luck for the casinos.

"Trump Taj Mahal led the city in both revenue and percentage increase for the month…"
