Atlantic City Casino Patrons Not Deterred

ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Atlantic City Courier-Post: ``The winter storm that blanketed the Shore couldn't have come at a worse time for the casino hotels here.

``Presidents Day weekend ranks as one of the most important on the local hospitality industry's calendar, often on a par with July Fourth.

``…The storm is the worst in nearly a quarter of a century to hit the Shore, which saw only 13 inches of snow in the 1996 storm that hit the tri-county area with 31 inches. Accumulation of up to 22 inches was predicted, which would exceed the 17 inches that fell on Presidents Day weekend in 1979.

``…Caesars had a number of weather-related cancellations, but balanced it out with people stranded in town.

``…Roadways throughout Atlantic and Cape May counties remained open Sunday night. Extra snow plows kept the main arteries in Atlantic City - including the boardwalk - passable, if not dry. The Cape May County Bridge Commission canceled toll collections on its spans…"
