Atlantic City Casino-Hotels Occupancy Increased

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "The 4.2 million casino hotel-room nights available in Atlantic City last year were filled 93.3 percent of the time, the third straight year of occupancy increases.

"Bally's Atlantic City reported the highest occupancy, 97.7 percent, and Sands Casino Hotel the lowest, 84.7 percent.

"The Casino Control Commission's year-end financial report also showed that the average room rate increased by 69 cents, to $80.03. The figure has questionable meaning because casinos give away two-thirds of their rooms to their best gamblers.

"…The casino industry's year-end room count was 11,432, an increase of 66 over the previous year. Sands was the only casino that had a major room expansion, adding 113 with its acquisition of the adjacent Madison House Hotel.

"Harrah's Atlantic City plans to open another 452 rooms next month…'
