Atlantic City Casino Adds Penny Slots

17 September 2002

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Associated Press: "…Tropicana Casino and Resort quietly added 26 penny slots to its more than 4,000 machines that accept dollar tokens, half dollars, quarters and nickels. The casino also added 14 2-cent slot machines.

"…Gamblers cannot actually feed the copper coins into the machines, which play multilines of their reels. But 1-cent wagers can be made from bills and tokens deposited in the machines found in a remote second-floor slot room.

"…Though the odds may seem against it, big money could be made with penny slots. Nickel slots have seen extensive growth in Atlantic City, largely because players bet far more than 5 cents a pull on machines programmed to accept wagers up to $4…."
