Assistant Stole Boilers Worth £12,000 for Gambling Cash

10 April 2006

SCOTLAND, UK -- As reported by the Scotsman: "A sales assistant who stole £12,000 worth of boilers and showers to fund a gambling habit has been ordered to pay £4000 compensation to his previous employers.

"...Jason Saunders, 31 worked as a counter and warehouse assistant for the Plumb Centre in Dalkeith, between January 2002 and June 2005.

"In June 2004 he began to fill in record sheets falsely stating that some ordered boilers and showers had not arrived at the centre.

"Defence agent Graham Horsman told Sheriff Ian Simpson that after being approached by certain plumbers, he agreed to supply them with the items at a reduced cost and then pocketed the cash.

"...Saunders was questioned and immediately confessed to selling several items each month to fund a gambling habit..."
