Asselta Critical of Card-Mailing Campaign vs. Casino-Tax Plan8 April 2003ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: ``An area legislator is upset with the Casino Association of New Jersey's casino-employee mail campaign to fight possible gaming taxes - upset that it's inadequate. ``Assemblyman Nicholas Asselta, R-Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic, said the association is wasting money by having employees send postage-paid, form-letter postcards to him and other legislators who strongly support the casinos' cause. ``…The cards would be better directed to legislative leaders now forming the state budget, Asselta said. The recipients should include Assembly Speaker Albio Sires, Senate Presidents John Bennett and Richard Codey and members of the Assembly and Senate budget committees, he said. ``…The casino association last week sent its 45,000 employees a mailer with four detachable postcards preaddressed to Gov. James E. McGreevey and the employee's local senator and two assembly members…" |
