Aspinalls to launch online casino20 June 2001Well-known European casino operator Damian Aspinall plans to launch an online casino aimed at the U.S. market within the next few days. The Aspinall family has been active in the casino industry for over 40 years in the UK, France, Australia and New Zealand. Aspinall said his family name brings credibility to the operation. Aspinall said, “I think online gaming is going to be huge. The problem is that hardly anyone has any credibility. You don''t know if you''re going to get paid or if they are going to steal your credit card.” “People are betting billions of dollars online and they''ve no idea who they''re giving their money to,” Aspinall stated. “They could be betting with the Mafia, for all they know.” Referring to his recent reverse takeover of Gaming Investments, Aspinall explained, “That''s why we''re becoming a public company with the Aspinall name behind it. We''re not going to do anything bent because we have physical casino licenses.” However, Aspinalls Online PLC is regarded as a separate entity from the land-based casinos. Aspinall is planning to provide the gateway for “an online Las Vegas” with about “a dozen” themed casinos, betting on sports events and financial markets and “a VIP club for invited high rollers”. |
