Arrest Within Hours of Foxwoods Holdup9 May 2002MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut – As reported by the Associated Press: "A North Haven man was charged Wednesday with a robbing a private high-stakes gambling room at Foxwoods Resort Casino at gunpoint and making off with more than $250,000 worth of chips. "Gene Lagor, 55, was arrested at his home about 16 hours after the Club Newport high-stakes gambling area was robbed. He was charged with robbery, larceny, threatening and reckless endangerment. and interfering with police. "…A man with a handgun entered the high-stakes gambling area and ordered three employees to lie on the ground, state police said. "The gunman took casino chips of all denominations and fled on foot through a casino parking garage. "…The chips are only good at the casino, said Foxwoods spokesman Bruce MacDonald. Police and casino officials said the incident may be the first armed robbery in Foxwoods' history…" |
