Army Officers Banned from Cambodia Casinos26 November 2002CAMBODIA – As reported by the Bangkok Post: ``Army officers have been banned from gambling at casinos in Cambodia, or benefiting from them in any way. ``Burapa task force commander Maj-Gen Anupong Paochinda, who oversees the Cambodian border region, announced the prohibition yesterday. ``…Casinos in Cambodia led to crime in Thailand from debt collection and conflicts of interest, and caused security problems. Every week, about 2,000 people from Thailand cross the border to visit the seven casinos in Cambodia opposite Sa Kaeo, four of which are owned by Thais and three by Cambodians…" |
