Arkansas Gaming Halls Closed

GREEN FOREST – As reported by Harrison Daily News: "Prosecutor John Casteel has closed Spinzzz Casino operations in Green Forest, Eureka Springs and Holiday Island on charges the operations used illegal gambling devices.

"Casteel said Monday that Nov. 15 he notified Spinzzz owner Neal Young to stop using the machines unless he could somehow turn them from games of chance into games of skill and that Young closed the three on Nov. 18.

"Casteel said Young had contended that he was operating legally under what has been called the `Chuck E. Cheese' law passed by the legislature in 1999 to allow a pizza restaurant by that name to offer children's games with minimal prizes.

"…State Police did a survey of gambling devices being used statewide earlier in the year and some prosecutors have taken action similar to Casteel's, but Casteel said he acted on his own…"
