Arkansas Amendment Proposed

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – As reported by the Associated Press: ``The attorney general's office has approved the ballot title and popular name for a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow casinos in nine counties and a statewide lottery.

``Under the proposal, casinos would be allowed in Benton, Crittenden, Garland, Jefferson, Miller, Mississippi, Ouachita, Pulaski and Sebastian counties.

``The proposal is backed by Bill Austin, owner of the Austin Hotel in Hot Springs, and Barry Emigh and Glen Martin of Hot Springs.

``…Under the proposal, Austin, Emigh and Martin would operate or contract out the operation of the casinos…"
