Arizona Resort Set to Open10 October 2001TUCSON, Arizona – Oct. 10, 2001 – As reported by the Associated Press: ``The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is set to open Pima County's fifth ccasino this week, putting 500 new slot machines into the market. ``Casino del Sol must first secure regulatory approval from the state Department of Gaming, which is expected in time for the first phase of the casino to open by Friday. ``The first phase of the Mediterranean-themed casino will have 500 slots, 12 poker tables and a restaurant serving casual fare. An adjacent 4,400-capacity amphitheater is also part of the development. ``The second phase of construction will build out the remaining two-thirds of the 240,000-square-foot entertainment complex, making it the state's largest casino when it is finished next fall. ``In all, the new casino will offer a nightclub, 36 lanes of bowling and seven restaurants. ``…Casino revenue has helped provide full-ride scholarships, build housing and improve health care for tribal members…" |
