Arizona Casino Adds Slots, New CEO

ARIZONA – As reported by the Arizona Daily Star: "An additional 308 slot machines and a new gaming CEO will be among the details unveiled this morning when the Tohono O'odham Nation announces an expansion plan for its Desert Diamond Casino on Tucson's South Side.

"Officials expect this spring to provide gamblers with a chance to try their luck on the new slots - bringing the number to 808 machines at Desert Diamond, 7350 S. Nogales Highway, said Ned Norris Jr., director of marketing and public relations.

"Tohono O'odham Gaming Authority officials also will introduce Joseph Calabrese as the new chief executive officer. He will oversee operations and the expansion completion.

"Calabrese, who has 25 years' experience in the gambling industry, is a former manager of the Foxwoods Resort Casino complex in Connecticut, which is billed as the largest casino in North America.

"…Expansion plans also include Las Vegas-style blackjack with the introduction of 28 tables at the Nogales Highway location. Another 10 blackjack tables will be introduced to gamblers at Desert Diamond Casino off I-19 at Pima Mine Road, Norris said…"
