Aristocrat, Sierra Design Group to Supply New York Market

23 October 2002

LAS VEGAS--(Press Release)-- Leading game and systems manufacturer Aristocrat Technologies Inc., today announced the effectuation of a license agreement with gaming technology provider, Sierra Design Group (SDG) to provide Aristocrat game themes for development and deployment in the New York market. SDG was selected to be a video lottery terminal (VLT) provider to the New York Lottery, subject to final contract negotiations. Aristocrat will be a primary supplier of game themes to SDG for rollout in the New York market, expected to initially occur sometime around the second quarter of 2003.

This agreement allows for placement of proven Aristocrat game themes from traditional gaming markets such as Nevada and Australia into the New York market, and is an extension of the existing software licensing agreement between the two companies for the Washington tribal market. The previous agreement, signed in August 2000, was for the use of Aristocrat's game themes on an SDG platform in the Washington state market. Aristocrat is able to penetrate the New York market by licensing its game intellectual property for a recurring fee, while focused on its primary business and markets.

"This agreement is key to Aristocrat accomplishing its licensing and recurring revenue objectives," said Mark Newburg, president of Aristocrat Technologies Inc.

Newburg added, "Previous agreements between Aristocrat and Sierra Design Group have been mutually beneficial, so expanding on our business relationship was a natural step. We are also extremely excited about the opportunity for Aristocrat game themes going into the New York market, where we believe our popular and proven games will provide exceptional performance, similar to the Washington market."

SDG President Bob Luciano said, "We have enjoyed our previous business dealings with Aristocrat, and this new licensing arrangement was instrumental in SDG being selected to be a terminal provider under the New York Lottery RFP. We appreciate the value of Aristocrat's extensive game library and look forward to providing the New York Lottery with outstanding gaming products."
