Aristocrat, PokerTek Sign Deal23 January 2006SYDNEY, Australia – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Aristocrat Leisure Limited (ASX: ALL) today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with PokerTek, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTEK) of Charlotte, North Carolina to place its interactive, electronic PokerPro(TM) table systems in casinos across the globe. Under the terms of the agreement, Aristocrat will have exclusive rights to offer PokerTek's PokerPro(TM) tables, and other PokerPro(TM)-branded technology solutions, to gaming venues across the globe with the exception of most United States and Canadian gaming jurisdictions, where PokerTek places product directly. "This partnership with PokerTek is part of our strategy to continue our expansion into the multi-terminal business following our 50 percent acquisition of Elektroncek, a Europe-based manufacturer of electro-mechanical multi-terminal products," said Paul Oneile, Aristocrat's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. "The Aristocrat-PokerTek agreement allows us to offer a cutting-edge poker table system to our customers around the world and capitalize on the incredible popularity of poker." PokerPro(TM) is a new and innovative electronic poker table created by PokerTek. This superior gaming experience is advantageous to both poker players and poker room operators. PokerPro(TM) provides operators an opportunity to dramatically improve the overall profitability of their poker room. For players, PokerPro(TM) is rapidly gaining acceptance because it delivers more hands per hour, eliminates player and dealer mistakes, and removes the need for dealer tipping. Since launching PokerPro(TM) at its first site in May 2005, the company has already installed 21 tables (210 stations) into six Native American casinos including two Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino properties in Florida and four Casinos of the Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma. "This agreement with Aristocrat allows us to benefit from Aristocrat's strong customer relationships and 53 years of experience providing advanced technology solutions to gaming operators around the world," said Lou White, Chief Executive Officer of PokerTek. "Our partnership with Aristocrat will broaden our market reach to over 55 countries where Aristocrat's gaming machines and casino management solutions are available, and will help accelerate PokerPro(TM)'s adoption rate among casinos and poker players. We have over 30 patents filed on the PokerPro(TM) system. Aristocrat's expertise will be instrumental to the continued development, expansion, and protection of PokerPro(TM)'s intellectual property throughout the world."
