Aristocrat Back on Track

MELBOURNE, Australia – As reported by Reuters: "Australia's Aristocrat Leisure Ltd (Australia:ALL.AX), the world's second-biggest slot machine maker, said on Tuesday rising sales in Japan should help it swing to a first-half net profit after a record loss a year ago.

"Shares in Aristocrat, recovering from a dismal 2003 when the company issued four profit warnings, soared more than 13 percent to their highest in 15 months.

"…Net profit for the six months ending June 30 should be in the range of A$50 million to A$60 million (US$35 million to $42 million), the company said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.

"…Despite the robust outlook, the company warned its first-half results would be subject to a number of variables, including the timing of product approvals in Australia and its overseas markets, and the outcome of litigation with former Chief Executive Des Randall, who has claimed breach of contract…"
