(AWSI:OTC BB), a provider of wireless communication solutions announced today that it has signed a deal with Autotote Corporation, a leading integrator and supplier of systems to lotteries, to provide the radio network for the Iowa State Lottery new online lottery system. Autotote will be installing an entirely new lottery system for the Iowa State Lottery with the total deal worth at least $40 million with the option to renew. The new lottery is expected to be operational by July 1, 2001. The highly competitive bid was won with Autotote receiving the highest technical ranking and the lowest bid. Bill Huntley, President of Autotote Lottery states, "ARIA's radio network was a significant factor in these exceptional technical scores in the competition, allowing us to place first in ranking in the technical arena." ARIA will be providing the radio network for over 1000 Extrema(TM) terminals for the Iowa Lottery system utilizing the System III product line. ARIA's System III Intelligent Radio Modem (IRM) can support online lotteries using TCP/IP communications protocol. "ARIA is focusing on the lottery industry and is striving to be the primary provider of wireless lottery networks. Our strategic alliance with Autotote, the second largest lottery provider in the world, will enable us to penetrate this market and gain competitive advantage." |
