Argosy Plans Expansion of Its Missouri Casino4 January 2002KANSAS CITY, Missouri –– As reported by the Associated Press: "A $60 million plan unveiled Thursday to the Missouri Gaming Commission would nearly double the size of Kansas City's Argosy Riverside Casino. "The plan aims to make the casino in the suburb of Riverside more competitive with the area's three other casinos. It would add more surface parking, a dramatic new entrance, two new dining venues, and an expanded buffet and dining room. "…The renovation could take 18 months to two years to complete, while providing 500 construction jobs and 100 more casino jobs. "…The casino's cramped quarters on three decks on the Missouri River have contributed to its stagnant Kansas City market share of around 17 percent. "…The Riverside project also must win approval from the Gaming Commission and Argosy's board of directors before construction can start. "The proposed 58,000-square-foot gaming floor would be the single largest uninterrupted expanse of casino floor on one deck in the metropolitan area. Other parts of the expansion would bring total new construction to more than 100,000 square feet…" |
