Appliance Repairman Wins $48 Mllion Powerball Jackpot

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- As reported by the Associated Press: ``Jerry Berggren felt his stomach sink. He started shaking. He called his fiance and told her he'd won the $48 million Powerball jackpot.

``Berggren, 54, of Kenner, said his first decision was to quit work. The self-employed appliance repairman from Kenner said he'll marry his fiance, buy a house and maybe a fishing boat.

``Berggren claimed his jackpot Tuesday, the largest ever won in Louisiana, state lottery officials said. Berggren and his fiance, Cathy DeMuynck, claimed the jackpot in a lump sum: $26,072,769, or $17,729,483 after taxes.
