Antiguan Regulators Issue Fraud Notices

2 April 1997

Mr. Vere Murphy, Commissioner of the Free Trade and Processing Zone sent RGT OnLine Editor, Sue Schneider, the following release on March 20, 1997.

The Antigua and Barbuda Free Trade and Processing Zone Commission states:-

  1. Globalsportsnet has never been and is currently not licenced or authorized to operate "A Sports Betting Book" in the Antigua and Barbuda Free Zone or in any other area in or outside of Antigua and Barbuda.
  2. The Commission has no knowledge of the existence of Globalsportsnet or any person or entity representing them.
  3. The licence certificate purported to have been issued by the Free Zone Commission and displayed on the Web Site of Globalsportsnet, is fraudulent.
  4. The Free Zone Commission bears no responsibility for the activities of Globalsportsnet, and demands that Globalsportsnet immediately withdraw the display of the fraudulent licence certificate from its Web Site.
  5. The Free Zone Commission will seek to initiate legal proceedings against Globalsportsnet immediately.

Mr. Murphy added:
Please be advised that Casino International Sports and Race Book is NOT licenced by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and is NOT affiliated in anyway with our country.

International Sports and Race Book claims to be licenced under a licence granted to World Wide Telesports. The statement is totally inaccurate as sub - licencing of gaming licences is not permitted in the state of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Free trade and Processing Commission, as the licencing body of the off-shore gaming industry accepts no responsibility for players who are misled into playing with Casino International Sports and Race Book.

Casino International responds:
"Casino International Ltd. does not claim to be licensed (or sub licensed under WWTS) by the Antiguan government. We are merely a marketing firm which sets up customers with WWTS. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, but we will continue to do business in this fashion. Whether a player chooses to establish a sports betting account with Casino International Ltd. or WWTS, he/she will receive the highest quality service in the industry. Thank you for your concerns in this matter, and we look forward to your comments in the future."

-Bob Mann, Casino International Ltd.
