29 March 2005

LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Ameristar Casinos, Inc. and The Craig H. Neilsen Foundation have become joint Founders of the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) through a gift of $1 million toward valuable cancer-related research, education, support services, and treatment initiatives. Ameristar Casinos and The Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, a charity founded by Ameristar's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, each gave $500,000 to benefit the research work of NVCI.

"We are enormously grateful for this generous gift," said Heather Murren, president and CEO of the Nevada Cancer Institute. "As one of our leading corporate citizens, we are confident the commitment of Ameristar and Craig H. Neilsen will inspire other members of Nevada's business community to contribute to improving the status of the health of the residents of our state."

"I have a deep respect for the Nevada Cancer Institute and the remarkable vision it has displayed in helping to advance Nevada's health care," said Craig H. Neilsen. "Participating in fulfilling their esteemed mission is an honor for our organization, and we look forward to contributing to their success."
